THANK YOU to all our generous donors who donated clothing to us in 2011. It has been a record-breaking year in the amount of clothing donations from individuals, retail companies and corporate suit drives.
We are pleased to announce our 2012 drop-off dates and instructions.
2012 Drop-off dates for NYC:
Tuesday, January 10th, 10am to 3pm
Tuesday, February 7th, 10am to 3pm
Tuesday, March 6th, 10am to 3pm
Kindly read and follow our detailed instructions below regarding making clothing donations.
1. Career Gear accepts new or gently worn, “ready to wear,” professional and business casual men’s clothing, shoes, accessories and product that are appropriate for a job interview such as:
- Suits
- Dress Shirts
- Blazers
- Dress Pants
- Shoes
- Belts
- Ties
- Overcoats
- New black or brown socks
- Briefcases & portfolios
- New toiletries
- Watches, tie clips & cufflinks
2. All clothing must be clean, but does not need to be professionally dry-cleaned.
3. We are located in New York City; Baltimore, MD; Washington DC; Houston, TX; Jersey City, NJ; Miami, FL; New Haven, CT and San Antonio, TX. Each site has its own clothing policies.
4. Due to limited resources and staff we DO NOT offer a pick up service or pay for shipping. We will not respond to these requests, as this is non-negotiable.
5. Include a note with your contact information (name, email, address, and phone number) and the number of items donated, in order to receive a tax-receipt. Help us save a stamp and provide us with your email address.

How to donate to NYC:
1. SHIP your donation via your preferred mail carrier to our downtown Manhattan location.
2. Drop off your donation in person on one of our approved Drop-off Dates. You must be able to bring your donation to our office on the 36th floor.

3. Take the subway or a cab to our Manhattan office. Do not drive your car to our site. We are located in a high security location. There are many one- way streets and police checkpoints. For this reason, we cannot offer curbside drop-off or meet you downstairs to receive your donation. Cars that pull over/park by our office tend to receive tickets and/or get towed away.
There are additional Career Gear's across the country, besides our headquarters in NYC. If we do not have a location in your area, we suggest you go to www.charitynavigator.org or www.guidestar.org to find a similar organization.
