Six Easy Steps to Conducting a Suit Drive:
1. Schedule a date to collect new and gently worn items in a bin at your office. Please email us when you set a date at letam@careergear.org.
2. Advertise the clothing drive throughout your organization. We will provide you with posters to publicize your company’s participation if needed.
3. Career Gear only accepts new or gently worn, “ready to wear” men’s clothing and accessories that are appropriate to wear on a job interview. Ask employees to donate the following items for MEN:
- Suits
- Dress Shirts
- Blazers
- Dress Pants
- Shoes
- Belts
- Ties
- Overcoats
- New black or brown socks
- Briefcases & portfolios
- New toiletries
- Watches, tie clips & cufflinks

We are located between Cedar and Pine Street. Please drop off all packages from 10am to 3pm, on Monday or Tuesday. This will ensure that freight elevators will be operating within our building. The freight entrance is on Cedar Street. We do not recommend driving to our office due to high security and police presence. Take a cab, utilize a messenger service or ship to our office. Call 212-577-6190x108, if you need help bringing items up.
5. Include a typed list with all donor contact information and number of items donated per individual, so Career Gear can mail each donor a tax receipt. Help us save a stamp and provide us with email addresses.
6. A suit is just the beginning of a man’s “second chance.” To make a much greater impact, please consider having your business financially match the clothing donations that are received during the suit drive. This would allow us to serve even more men in need.
